SIMPLE SERVICES WE OFFER YOUR RESIDENTS

We provide comprehensive convenient onsite dental services creating a

higher quality of life for those we serve.

Only 32% of seniors are seeing the dentist annually. The CDC reports over 71% of seniors have active Periodontal (gum) disease. There is a direct link between oral health and overall health, specifically with periodontal (gum) disease and the bacteria that accompanies this disease. Periodontal disease has been associated with greater incidences of heart disease, cancer, stroke, pneumonia, and diabetes. Poor oral health affects daily tasks for these seniors such as chewing and talking. In turn, this affects their overall health and quality of life.

We understand that dental care for seniors in assisted living communities requires a special touch. Our on-location services are designed to provide comprehensive dental care that is convenient, comfortable, and tailored to the unique needs of our senior residents.

Cleanings

X-Rays

Keep your smile ageless!

Regular dental exams are the cornerstone of maintaining good oral health, especially as we age. We provide thorough examinations checking for signs of gum disease, oral cancer, toot decay, and other dental issues. We understand that some seniors may have unique dental concerns, such as denture maintenance or dry mouth. Our examinations are tailored to address these specific needs, ensuring that your oral health is in the best possible hands.

Keep your smile sparkling!

Routine dental cleanings are essential for preventing gum disease, cavities, and maintaining a healthy smile. Our dental hygienists are skilled in providing gentle and effective cleanings. We take special care to ensure your comfort throughout the process, using the latest techniques and instruments to remove plaque and tartar buildup. By preventing dental issues before they become major concerns, we help you maintain a beautiful, confident smile.

Keep your smile on track!

We use state-of-the-art digital X-ray equipment that emits minimal radiation, ensuring your safety while providing highly detailed images. These X-rays help us detect issues like hidden cavities, impacted teeth, bone loss, and more. By incorporating advanced technology, we can provide accurate diagnoses and develop personalized treatment plans, all without leaving the comfort of your assisted living community.

Preventive Care:

Preventive care is the key to a lasting and radiant smile. Our commitment to your oral health includes educating you about the importance of preventive measures. We offer guidance on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary choices, and lifestyle habits that support a healthy smile. Through regular check-ups, cleanings, and preventive strategies, we aim to ensure that your smile remains vibrant, functional, and a source of confidence.

Any further clarifications we can provide?

How does the service work?

We regularly visit the facility every three months. The facility and our clinical team work together to select a date for routine visits by the hygienist/dentist. We add new patients to the list once a signed consent for treatment form with Option A or B selected is received. Patient can also register on-line at dentalol.com and select patient registration in upper right corner.

Do you have a van or do you set up inside?

We have portable equipment that is brought inside to the patient. This includes a portable digital x-ray system, a portable operatory system, and instruments for performing the service. It’s all self-contained.

I just want a cleaning - do I have to need an exam with the dentist?

This is left up to the patient/POA.

Why are your hygiene visits quarterly?

The American Dental Association recommends for people over the age of 70 to be seen by a hygienist for cleanings to help with their overall health and wellness. As we age our dexterity changes and the dryness in our mouths increases due to medications and periodontal disease, which makes us more prone to decay on our teeth.

How far in advance do you need before I can be seen?

We typically can see you within the 1 – 2 weeks depending on our routes and schedule.

How do I know when you are coming back to my facility?

Our scheduled visit will be communicated to the facility through email, calls to the residents and/or families. Our quarterly visits are listed in the activities section of the newsletters and flyers. Signs will be posted at the facility leading up to our visits.

I have dental insurance. How does that work?

We bill all insurances, but are an out-of-network provider. Therefore, we “in network” or a “preferred provider” with any particular dental insurance carrier because we don’t have a brick-and-mortar building. There are many insurance plans in the US and they all vary to a degree on how much they will reimburse for procedures. Your dental insurance policy is a contract between you and them and we can not act as an intermediary except for providing them with the necessary dental claim form and associated information. The insurance company will send reimbursement checks to the subscriber on most occasions. We are happy to check with your insurance company before you sign up for our service.

Does Medicare/Medicaid pay?

Medicare does not currently cover most general dental procedures a supplemental plan is needed to cover dental. DOL is out of network. Please check with your insurance to see if there are out-of-network coverage. Medicaid may offer some limited benefits, first check with your case worker to see if you qualify. WE ARE MEDICAID PROVIDER.

Why are you prices higher than my dentist?

We are a mobile dental provider and have additional costs associated with the portable equipment. In addition, we have travel and a lower volume of clients than conventional offices. As our clientele tends to be older, we tend to spend more time with each client.

Do I need a Fluoride treatment? Isn’t it just for children?

Recent studies have shown Fluoride treatments to be very helpful in several ways. Firstly, it is shown to improve remineralization of teeth in which it can not only stop decay but can even reduce it. The other benefits for adults is the prevention of root decay. Adults with gum recession are at risk of root decay because the surface becomes exposed to decay causing bacteria in the mouth. The older you are, the more prone you are to gum recession.
